With almost 54,000 businesses, Anne Arundel County is a major hub of commerce and development. With a $35 billion economy, low taxes, a vast multi-modal transportation system, highly skilled workforce and excellent educational institutions, Anne Arundel County is the premier location to do business.

Every year, September is recognized as National Preparedness Month, to raise awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies that could happen at any time. Preeti Emrick, Director of the Anne Arundel County Office of Emergency Management, stresses that with the likelihood of severe weather events increasing, “being prepared is more important than ever.” That is why this month we are focusing on helping our community members prepare for all types of emergencies and disasters with four simple steps: Be Informed, Make a Plan, Build a Kit, and Get Involved.

You can also get involved by attending our annual Emergency Preparedness Expo. Join us from 10 am to 2 pm at the Anne Arundel Community College Arundel Mills Campus on Saturday, September 17, 2022. This free, family-friendly event has hands-on displays, games, and activities to provide a fun-filled way to learn about preparing for emergencies!
